Historical Alta Pusteria

The market community of San Candido is one of the oldest settlements in Tyrol and the Graue Bär has been one of the most well-known addresses in Alta Pusteria since the 14th century. Together with the world famous Ms. Emma Hellenstainer and the Grand Hotel Dobbiaco, today a renowned cultural centre, the Graue Bär made a great contribution to tourism history during the Belle Époque.

The beautiful cultural and natural landscapes of Alta Pusteria have been impressing visitors for years and have inspired well-known artists such as Gustav Mahler, Clemens Holzmeister, Rudolf Stolz and Peter Paul Rainer.
