San Candido is the ideal destination for winter holidaymakers. Situated in the Alta Pusteria Valley/Hochpustertal, in the heart of the Dolomites, near the Tre Cime di Lavaredo/Drei Zinnen, San Candido offers a multitude of options for both guests who love active holidays and those looking purely for tranquillity and relaxation. Downhill skiing aficionados have a choice of one hundred kilometres of slopes in the ski area of the Three Peaks in the Dolomites. Some are connected with the neighbouring province, others are right on your doorstep, including night skiing options twice a week.
For many decades, San Candido has been the preferred destination of cross-country skiers. It is the starting point of cross-country runs to Sesto/Sexten and Dobbiaco/Toblach, crossing the Pusteria Valley/Pustertal to Brunico/Bruneck or through the fascinating landscape of the Val di Landro /Höhlensteintal to Cortina d‘Ampezzo. Even in less snowy winters, you can indulge in cross-country skiing in the Alta Pusteria Valley: on the high plateau of Prato Piazza/Plätzwiese, situated at an altitude of 2,000 metres, the cross-country skiing conditions are always ideal.
